Hello Felix

I saw something on the news today and it made me think of this page.

The TV feature showed people in Scotland giving a houseplant to the elderly and lonely. What a nice gesture and pick me up for lockdown!

I get so much out of my houseplants that when I went back to work after lockdown - I took one of them to put on my desk. Looks great and I love it!

I can see where this is going Felix. I work in the Care Industry and anything that helps people helps themselves gets my vote. Well done you.

I have to admit that I struggled during lockdown but my houseplants gave me a focus. There's no question they helped me through.

It's common knowledge that gardening is highly therapeutic. A common term was ‘pottering' and in present circumstances to be able to ‘potter' indoors 12 months of the year could become the saviour of many.

I couldn't agree more. I don't have a garden and although it would be nice - my collection of houseplants gives me joy all year and not just in summer.

The main reason I really enjoy plants is because they encourage me to slow down. Now I can do something else that's not work or staring at a screen. It's a real stress buster and particular important now that I work from home and find it difficult to switch off.

Yes I agree with Michelle. I'm a newbie to houseplants but there's no question that Calathea are my favourites. Not only are they very striking but one website desctribes them as 'hard to kill'.
They can be expensive but my collection of six is growing fast.

I have too many houseplants to count. They keep me sane although everyone else thinks I'm bonkers. On the way to creating my own urban jungle. Calathea are my No.1 plants. I have 40.

Tending to my babies helped to keep me sane during lockdown.

Should I keep my houseplants 2m apart?

OMG! I didn't even realise but this is me exactly! I fit into all the traits mentioned of the ‘houseplant addict'. But so what, I must have over 50 plants and rising. I love them all and won't be stopping even though my partner has a bit of a paddy sometimes!

My name is Felix and I am a houseplant addict..

I bought my first houseplant a couple of years ago when I got back from my travels and now I can't stop.

Together with cooking - tending my houseplants is my way of chilling out. It gives me a sense of calm.

Felix
